Backwoods Group supported Defence Construction Canada at CFB Wainwright through site services program management and defence services program support for the demolition of Building B27. The work included supplying labour, equipment, tools, materials, transportation, and supervision required to safely demolish the building for the Department of National Defence at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta.

The project required careful coordination in winter conditions within a congested footprint near the base’s main intersection. As prime contractor, Backwoods managed subcontractor Salco while navigating delayed mobilization requirements, unforeseen hazardous materials, additional engineering reviews for Warren truss removal, lead-based paint disposal, and added scope not outlined in the original hazardous materials report.

Despite schedule pressures and changing site conditions, Backwoods maintained focus on safety, documentation, environmental mitigation, and client communication. The team supported completion of the building demolition with zero recordable onsite personnel incidents and positioned the project to meet DCC’s substantial completion requirements while leaving a strong impression for future work opportunities.
